51. In Britain, creationist theory is evolving

Comment #144576 by Verylee on March 16, 2008 at 11:03 am

I am sure in this Celeb obsessed world that there are many atheist celebrities who would be willing/happy to put their names to a short piece telling children to think for themselves. Rowan Atkinson, Ricky Gervaise, Michael Stipe, Brian Eno, Brian May, Jodie Foster, Stephen Fry, Eddy Izzard and so on and on. There are so many of them, intelligent articulate and in the media entertainment front line. It is a resource that needs to be tapped. "Kids....Just say no"! Maybe the children will listen to their heroes.

Excuse me Mr Dawkins, but you're not allowed to say that word on this show! (Because you might offend someone?)

What is it with religions and persecution? It seems that one of the default settings of any religion or their reps is to have a highly developed persecution complex and also to be totally blind to their persecution of others. These homophobic, genocidal, misogynistic organisations and their reps have the gall to turn round and say things like..."I have been repeatedly banned"..."Why don't the disciples of Dawkins call the Militant New Atheist books fleas as well?"...." We won't be allowed to speak, it will be rigged" etc etc.whilst they slag off other groups who do not conform to their twisted beliefs, whether they be other religions, lifestyles, whatever. Even a moron can see through their snide pseudo-intellectual posturing.
Wrong thread? I don't know! They're all persecution junkies!

How many atheist flea books are there?
Oooooh touchy!! Ha ha touche, but I think that they are called "flea books" because of the un-imaginative choice of their titles.

Comment #142440 by Verylee on March 12, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Why do they keep trotting out these books? It's so unfair, the way they keep attacking Atheism, Atheists and Science like this. They know we don't have the numbers to fight them, only reason and evidence based around sound practice. There's no hope. (At least that's what they told David before he went out to face Goliath!)

Why do you think people who believe in God (as I do) have a "need for a supernatural crutch?"

To explain away the "as yet" unexplainable to those who challenge, rather than to admit that "the jury is out".

89. Add another flea to the list...

Comment #132971 by Verylee on February 25, 2008 at 1:25 pm

wyattroberts: what atheists are supposed to be about -- examining the evidence?

Atheists are about NOT having a belief in a god or gods...I am sure there are many atheists who do not look for evidence at each and every turn, but live their lives to the full each and every day without the need for a supernatural crutch.

Maybe a fear of feeling intellectually inadequate may delay or put some people off from contributing initially (like it did me)...but to be honest I think the wit and wisdom found here on the forums more than compensates for any foolish statements I might make!
