What happens if he's not there!! The only explanation i can think of is if he got up and walked out!! ............. follow that to it's fundamental conclusion & ............
Gal rose from the dead!! Only Gods can do that so God must be Galileo and Galileo must be god and since galileo told us fundamental truths about the solar system it all makes sense.

No matter what religion throws at science, science just seems to slowly keep chugging along. (Maybe not so slowly). It's breathtaking the advances that are happening and the projects undertaken, a few spring to mind - the facilities in Sweden to store seeds of every flora, the LHC, the bleedin space station!!
I don't care about the whitterings of the religous as long as these types of events keep happening my "faith" that science will continue to astonish me will still be strong.

Comment #123687 by theantitheist on February 7, 2008 at 2:03 pm
There was an article on here yesterday regarding an american women put in Jail in Saudi Arabia for being in a starbucks with men. They did not stop to say excuse me, which version of the law do you follow? The one for Saudi's and muslims or the one for people who don't want to live in that fashion? No they put her in prison made her feel like shit, have to apologise for the way she acted (by the way she was wearing the burka and all the other dubby dobs) made her strip threw her clothes in muddy water and then put them back on etc. etc.
They had their laws we have ours, from my point of view ours are better and are fixed for poor rich, muslim or hindu or athiest or christian. One of the fundamentals that western civilisations are built on.
In other words RW and people who want differant laws FUCK OFF.

He has had an excellant education in one regard, he has been introduced to a lot of concepts and ideas however his main failing is to dismiss them in order to allow his results to fit his preindoctrined notions.
To dismiss Dawkins rebuttals as the age old arguements we've all heard before is fair in one regard, the're not particulary new. However the need to repeat them and shout about them is because they wash over the pillocks and Oakes of this world like water off a ducks back. "I'm right and you're words can't touch me" We'll never convince these idiots because they do not have the necessary intelligance to challange their own beliefs or change their mind once they have convinced themselves that they are right.

Those of you asking for Richard to comment on the article, i would ask why?
It's a waste of anyone's time to try to refute any of the 'arguements'. It's complete bollocks from start to finish, rather then give it to Richard give it to a class of primary school kids and ask them to run through it and make arguements for or against it. Unless it was a faith school, i'm sure even they could rip it apart (given a good teacher).

I think this clearly demonstrates that Atheists have more morals then the religious. If a little old women gave me 10% of her earnings and sold her car for me, oh and paid my electricity bill when i was a bit strapped, i would always let her sit on a hard bench and listen to what ever crap she liked be it Terry Wogan or Pope John Paul Ringo George III, let her gossip away and feel smug in herself with no harrasement what so ever. I suppose i'm just that kind.

70. Stop revisionist Christian nation House Resolution 888
Comment #114190 by theantitheist on January 21, 2008 at 2:02 pm
England WAS built on many religous and faith led principles, Henry VIII decided that the Church of England should be founded and become Englands no. 1 religion. Of course this was so he could divorce his wife and chop off one or two others heads (start as you mean to go on in this religion). You need to understand that almost every country has a strong link between religion and history, Shakespear and Da vinci both had it influence there works strongly as well as many more important men in history and we can see this through there works, though of course this is no real indication of thier thoughts on the subject.
The founding fathers of America really did however give a big thumbs down to the inclusion of religion in the setup of the country, this can be seen by any real historian or seeker of truth (how ironic that priests often refer to themselves as such) and to claim otherwise in this proposal of Resolution 888 is akin to being a holocaust denier.
Religion has played a huge part in the growth of USA however this has been for good and for ill and should be recognised as such and it is in spite of not because of the constitution and first principle.
Of course it would also help if you would also stop Hollywood changing History all the time. As according to the films it's hard to see if England, Holland, Poland, French, Canadians etc etc played any part.

AAARRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH you beat me to the first post!! (and through writing this one a few more beat me. Bugger)
As for the faith heads using that reason to dismiss all the other hard gained knowledge i'm sure it will only be a select few. The one's who, and they know who they are, try to bulldoze thier arguements making the generalised statements and not stoping to listen to any reasoned logic. (They wind me up and Brianworldcitizen is fighting them at the moment for what good it will do i don't know)
However to me this is a perfect example of the truth coming out in the end. Scientists argue, bicker, through statements around and finally when they manage to convince the others the truth in their statements we hold it up as the accepted theory until someone can come along later and change it. Who knows Darwin may be wrong and he will admit to it when he is convinced or vice versa with Wilson.
Science is the pursuit of truth and it's good to see passion is still alive in it.

The great bearded whale in the sky told us so!!
In fact this leads to an interesting point, is it only people in heaven? surely they'd let kittens in and if they let little kittens in what about dogs and if dogs what about fleas, or mosquitoes? in fact why not rats, they don't do anything wrong they just act in the way the great bearded rat made them.
There we go if I could ask the pope one question it would be, are there Rats in heaven.

The last bit about the foundations of the church of England been eaten away made me laugh! We're getting somewhere people!!
I am of two minds actually as to whether it's a good thing or bad thing.
Good Thing - They will lose money and it will be treated as a joke, only damaging the creationist cause further. Plus let's face it, if you build it in somewhere like Wigan you will have some scum (i'm from Bury, i know the area) writing shit all over it and people breaking in just to trash it for kicks, further making it a joke.
Bad thing - It will maybe sway the minds of children who were realising that there parents were wrong into believing them. Even one or two good kids lost to the world and being brainwashed into "I did not come from a monkey!! and if i did why are there still Monkey!! (I came across this one again yesterday and at the end of it had a Nun doubting her believes, KUDOS to me !!) is a waste and will futher add some credibility to the cause.
But good on Wigan anyhow for slamming the door in there face, hopefully it will carry on, not only for this time of joke but for churches, mosques, temples and golden cows.

Sinful Messiah,
Yes we the choir know the rebuttals and could probably stand in for Richard, Sam & Dan (maybe not Chris Hitch as he has a really good insulting tone with all his conversations) at these type of things, though we all have are own twists. It is precisly this reason why the new section was added to contribute to the debates.
Richard could even send him that link as his reply, however I do agree that this parroting gets people nowhere. Maybe it's time we stopped talking and rose up and killed all the religious in the name of Atheism, come on I will if you all will?! You know it's amazing but I don't think anyone will join in, maybe if i somehow convinced you all it was for the best and you would gain something from it? Now I was one of the first to request more info and to believe that the publishers and companies related and profiteering from her could chip together the costs, I'm also reluctant for the same reasons as Peter K (who I believe has a valid reason to donate his money elsewhere, she does presumably have a comfortable live style, though I recognize this was not always the case and she well deserves it for her hard work in the face of adversity) and also Spinoza.
However I'm now going to use some twisted logic that a Mormon would be proud of.
Bill Gates, who could be one of the wealthy benefactors (see Sponza) has given a shit load of cash to Africa to help relieve malaria and HIV etc.; as such since he's doing that it means I don't have to and can rationalize my decision to donate based on the fact that if he donated $15 less to Africa and gave that to Ayaan, then i could give mine to Africa. But since he has given it to Africa i can give it mine to Ayaan. Same total amount of money just coming from different bank account. It's all warped but I was brought up on Danger mouse and Monty Python so what the hell. Plus I always have to go for the under dog.

If she goes' back to her adopted country they will continue to pay for her security and as such the decision to remain in America and carry on her work is one that she has taken with full knowledge of the consequences.
Without wanting to sound negative this is a women who has earned a substantial amount from her work and who has a company who are earning a substantial amount from her work.
We all have to make decisions and if you think it will help, donate the money, if you think that money can be better spent elsewhere or if you can't afford to support someone who takes home (well home as in where she hangs her hat)a lot more then most then spend it on your own living costs.
P.S. Has she come out and said she can't afford it and would like contributions or is Sam coming out with well meaning but redundant intentions?
