Let's stick with 'Atheist', not some cutesie appellation. That's what we are precisely. All any politician or corporate leader who is an atheist needs to say is "I believe in separation of church and state, and I will not discuss my beliefs." This nonsense about 'pride' and 'rights' and 'coming out of the closet' makes it appear that atheists have something to be ashamed of. People who are willfully ignorant and superstitious are the ones who should be ashamed.

Sam's article is great, but its title is bad. We athiests aren't enemies of any god; we are enemies of ignorance and superstition.

I'm not at all upset by this. I want the Bush/NeoCon-Republican administration to be totally discredited. The more stupid, moronic, and ridiculous they become the better. As difficult as it would be on many citizens, I'm hoping that the economy disintegrates as well, so that Bush becomes as hated as Hoover was during the Great Depression.

As an American I'm greatly relieved to find that the USA doesn't have exclusive claim to the type of pseudo-scientists exemplified by McIntosh and Burgess. Leeds and Bristol universities must be the UK equivalents of Liberty University in the US.
