51. Even non-believers must recognise the moral necessity of Christianity
Comment #30595 by atheist_peace on April 9, 2007 at 1:35 am
We need to eliminate ALL religion from the public sphere. Christians seem to think that secularism and separation of church and state are only about removing Christianity from our society. If the author is afraid of Islam contaminating Britain, it is because the religious "moderates" tolerate the hypocritically violent Muslims that are inundating the UK.
Non-belief is the only way to protect our societies from the disease known as religion.

I'm watching this program right now and about half way through there was a scene where one of the Phelps' kids got hit by a drink from a moving car. Sorry, but that did make me smile a bit.
53. Atheist says he's victim of religious hate crime

I sense some sarcasm in the title of this article. I'm pretty sure if this were a Muslim assaulted by Jews, it would read "Muslim victim of hate crime" rather than "Muslim says he's victim of hate crime."
Unfortunately the atheists in Canada are too quiet. The same intolerance towards atheists in the U.S. exists here in Canada too.
54. Britain Proposes Allowing Schools to Forbid Full-Face Muslim Veils

I am shocked that the Muslim-friendly Labour government let this happen. But this is completely necessary. First and foremost, this is a safety issue. How can you prevent intruders from entering the school if people are allowed to were face-covering clothing? Secondly, this perpetuates the false notion that religious rights trump the accepted customs and values of the UK. Like many other people have said, go back to Saudi Arabia if this is the life you want. Thirdly, allowing children to wear niqab in public institutions allows the misogyny to continue. Girls may claim to "choose" to wear the niqab, but they would never make this choice if they were not raised to believe it is a requirement of women. What rational person would ever think it's a good idea to walk around all day looking like a kid wearing a ghost costume on Halloween?
If you want to move to the UK, or any other progressive nation, follow the customs. No immigrant has the right to tell a nation that welcomes him or her to change and conform to irrational religious ideals. Imagine Europeans moving to Afghanistan and expecting them to establish nude beaches, strip clubs, and liquor stores.
Here in Canada, we are starting to go down a similar path, feeling forced to make many changes to please Muslim immigrants. Today, a report was released demanding that prayer facilities, halal food, and "women-only" gym facilities - among other things - be offered in universities throughout Canada. Check it out here: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2007/03/21/muslim-universities.html

Roland,
Let's start by removing "God" from our anthem and the preamble to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. While we're at it, let's stop calling Queen Elizabeth the Defender of the Faith.
God save our land, glorious and free.
56. 'Don't discuss polar bears': memo to scientists

Let the Canadians and Scandinavians handle this one. Washington will be happy with all the polar bears dying just so Bush's klan can make another billion.
57. Why there are almost no genuine atheists
Comment #24444 by atheist_peace on March 6, 2007 at 5:33 pm
"Conversely, when one presses a purported atheist, one almost always finds that the person believes in various propositions that simply don't make sense without a belief in some source of an ultimate moral order, i.e., what most people would call "God." For instance, almost everyone who claims to be an atheist still makes lots of "ought" statements, as in "we ought to preserve biological diversity," or what have you."
Yet another "you need God to be moral" argument.
Campos makes it seem like he's interviewed a large percentage of American atheists; but how many millions of atheists are still in the closet?

This comes as no surprise because unfortunately in Canada our government gives all churches automatic charity status. Our government preaches about how hard working Canadians need tax cuts - well maybe they should start taxing these megachurches.
What saddens me the most is that the people being robbed just say "god will handle it." Simply delusional.
