Steve,

I am well aware of Olbermanns bias. I think of him as half comedian half newsperson.

Not bad looking I guess?

What a giant waste of time. :)

I would just like to say that I am proud of everyone who has contributed their hard work and determination to this amazing accomplishment. Not you DP.

"It would be a disaster if the voters who want change do as you wish and McCain-Palin manage to win as a result."

This already happened in the first Bush jr election with Ralph Nader. The Nader voters caused the Bush victory.

Who cares about the southern states? Democrats will never win them. They vote republican because they ARE "less educated working class", this is no secret. I don't mean to say that everyone in the south is, but Mccain can count on a lot of votes due to this reason. It is not called the bible belt for nothing.

EDIT: LANDSLIDE

"I have read that the polls have actually been getting closer. Mccain is making ground in some key states because of taxes and Obama "spread the wealth" comment."

I think this is BS. This election has inspired a lot of people to vote who don't usually vote, especially black americans and young people, I can't imagine any of them voting for the very old Mccain who is a republican like Bush. Not that I think Mccain is like Bush but I think that is how a lot of young people think.

THis is going to be a domination.

109. Turek vs. Hitchens Debate: Does God Exist?

Comment #275188 by righton on October 30, 2008 at 11:10 pm

I really don't like debates. Someone with no knowledge of the topics may think that Turek won just because he was talking louder. It is reminiscent of politics. No DP lets not go there.

Anyway, I think Hitch was wasted and on auto-pilot. It reminded me of an SNL skit.

I guess i think he won. Although in my opinion I think it is almost impossible to lose a debate of this nature. Turek came with weak shit but why not address it? He asked easy questions especially for Hitchens to answer. If Hitchens was being arrogant then I think it was pretty funny and would have definitely worked, however I don't think this was the case. Most average people do not know the answers to these questions and usually Hitchens destroys them.

I just think something was obviously off.

Comment #275171 by righton on October 30, 2008 at 10:13 pm

I am a huge Hitchens fan but I have never seen him like this. I don't understand how you can think this was a good performance. He would not answer simple questions. Questions even I could give a reasonable answer to. It did not seem like he was not answering them on purpose. He did not understand what was being asked. This is very uncharacteristic of Hitchens. Usually he is very on point and does not allow these simple arguments to go unanswered.

What about his performance did you think was good? It seemed like he was just regurgitating his usual rants about religion instead of engaging his opponents question. How do you win a debate without answering your opponents questions?

THis is still very weak.

Then who made/created god? Who created them? and so on.

Morals can be explained by evolutionary biology. Just as there is no need for a creator of different species, there is no need for a creator of morals.

HandyGeek,

I also felt like I wasted my night after I watched this. Hitchens was kind of strange. He would not address the argument about morals for some reason even though Turek asked him about it five times. The argument is crap because evolution explains how morals came about but Hitchens would not address it. I am not sure if he was doing this on purpose or if he was just wasted and did not understand? It was pretty funny seeing Turek get really frustrated.

KK,

I have recieved at least five different smear campaign emails about Obama in the last 2 months. Muslim/flag-pin/He is only 37/he is not a US citizen/abortion. It's like DP has my email address. All of them were false and I have not recieved one about Mccain.

I am pretty pissed off about all of them. It would be terrible if Obama lost the election because lies were spread about him. These people should be prosecuted.
