The photo gives an air of resigned boredom.
(Although I am aware it comes from an RD website get together)

155. Does Religion Make You Nice?

Comment #280483 by the great teapot on November 7, 2008 at 3:24 pm

"She approvingly quotes Dostoyevsky"
Why?
It was hardly the most earth shatteringly profound and original thought when he wrote it.
Surely she isn't doing it to appear intellectual.
Clearly she is banking on her audiance not having heard the tired old overexhausted quote before.
Pseudes corner is getting very overpopulated these days.

Great parlour game,
A load of bullshit merchants in the desert make up a crock of inconsistent shite and we have to get a philosophy phd to call their bluff.

This causality question,
I have often found it strange that my coffee jar, spoon and me often meet up at the same time every morning in my kitchen. Kinda spooky.

Only someone who derives their views eating canapes in islington would consider Richards comments as "going ape".

Nice new haircut.

Go girl.

How about a rekindling of the star wars program for wolf extermination, that's got to be priority numero uno.

161. The soul? It may all be in your mind

Comment #270021 by the great teapot on October 23, 2008 at 2:41 pm

Ian,
Are souls queing up, waiting for new bodies to enter?
And if so, how does it tie in with evolution?
(jeez, this is so much better than the old homo erectus crap I had before)

162. All aboard the atheist bus campaign

Comment #270016 by the great teapot on October 23, 2008 at 2:26 pm

I enjoyed the thought for the day slot today.
I like to tune in just for a laugh normally, but of late all of the unoriginal numbnuts have blathered on about, in there usual predictable condescending non helpfull manner is the "credit crunch" (is that a recession or a candybar). No fun there.

Comment #264984 by the great teapot on October 15, 2008 at 3:04 pm

Just curious, but is it myth or true that postal votes only count on the whim of the returning officer chap.
Can that really be true in the Land of the free?

Comment #264968 by the great teapot on October 15, 2008 at 2:26 pm

Of course he is an atheist. He appears to be a reasonable and charming man.
But, hell, everyone has to earn a living.

Comment #264924 by the great teapot on October 15, 2008 at 1:02 pm

Christianaplogist,
You are absolutely correct, atheists shouldn't take the subject of god lightly.
The only way to disabuse people of the childish notions you and your kind hold is not to patronize , but to insult. Your religious belief is retarded in the extreme and should not be given even the respect afforded here.
your religion is horseshit as are your confused thought processes. Please don't embarass yourself by posting here any further.
That serious enough for you.Idiot.
And to those who criticise Gervais, this wasn't his phd submission he was just having a chat, and he is a comedian, not a professional "contrarian".

173. Leading geneticist Steve Jones says human evolution is over

Comment #261871 by the great teapot on October 7, 2008 at 2:45 pm

It was a strange conversation with steve jones on radio 4 this morning. Although I was concentrating on driving at the time, officer, he seemed to be just taking a delight in contradictng everything the interviewer said.

Comment #261865 by the great teapot on October 7, 2008 at 2:23 pm

Goldy
One in five people are chinese, so I suppose statistically the fact that 2 of your kids are of chinese descent shouldn't be too suprising.
Reminds me of a conversation I actually overhead in a barbers last year(in kent, UK),
Hairdresser 1- Chinese is the most spoken language in the world.
Hairdresser 2- Really? I don't know anyone who speaks chinese.
No lie. (and she wasn't joking)

Enjoy your rotting corpses Sciros.

"where students would use the Bible as a work of reference in all courses"
I am trying hard but I can't think of where the bible would have helped my Civil Engineering degree. The world has moved on since the 1300 s we no longer just study opinion based humanities and philosophy, we have real subjects to teach.
But hell, if it keeps them of the streets, why not?

Who said giving them more power is what is at issue? I have never heard anyone say that before.
Obviously that would be wrong and I can't believe that would be allowed.

If shariah Law infringes human rights then laws should be introduced to protect those rights and we should "thank" sharia law for pointing out the inadequacy in our current law.
If the sharia law breaks a current law then it is already illegal.

Surely sharia Law only applies to personal decisions which are not already covered by the law of the country. Or am I wrong.
Can someone give me an example of where sharia law trumps british law,
And as already mentioned, saying "the whole country is mentaly ill" was a bloody stupid thing to say.

"Science doesn't know about this, but I can say that God did it".

Yes if he had made god up himself.
But it is all recorded in the Bible.
Are you suggesting the writers of the bible were liars?

189. More atheists are sharing their views

Comment #254328 by the great teapot on September 25, 2008 at 2:46 pm

So the fact that we can not prove that the supernatural or god exists means that he may well exist?

190. More atheists are sharing their views

Comment #254256 by the great teapot on September 25, 2008 at 1:42 pm

This conversation does me think on this weeks moral maze (bbc radio 4) where they were debating secularism. A religite made the predictable quote that when one gives up on mainstream religion there is a tendancy to replace it with all sorts of nonsense. To my astonishment no one asked her how her religion differs from these other forms of nonsense.

192. Humanists take legal action on GCSE exclusion

Comment #252770 by the great teapot on September 23, 2008 at 3:17 pm

Fair decision in my view.
Religion is a belief in things that clearly can no be rationally supported.
Do humanists really want tarring with the same brush.

An eskimo writing great poetry, what an hilarious notion. Why an eskimo could live in Ireland for a thousand years and he'd still be building igloos and trying to fish on dry land.
