You said that so much better than myself...

Garp,

Let me get this analogy straight here. (Sorry for the wordiness)

Are you saying that if a product (Obama/Biden campaign) benefits from sexism of its' buyers (though the product itself is not sexist), while another product (McCain/Palin campaign) does not, it's good to buy the product that isn't benefiting from the sexism of it's buyers, even if that said product (McCain/Palin) is inferior?

Quetz,

Is the bad behaviour of a candidate's supporter sufficient reason not to vote for the candidate?

Excellent swipe...

Skylark is admiring that...

Quetz,

My bad...
I think garp just answered my question:

garp-
I've read some of the Obama supporters websites where the gender name calling type of insults were hurled constantly at Hillary.

So these websites have suddenly shut down and that's why you aren't linking up to them?

I think everyone should leave garp alone. comment 464 is clearly trollish.

I think many felt she was pushed out of the race.

Let's for the sake of argument agree here...

How does that translate into misogyny???????

You still haven't provided evidence for this so-called misogyny...

Quetz,

Skylark's precognitive powers (which pales to yours) tells him that Garp will provide (so should he/she choose) evidence that is evidence only to his/her definition of misogyny...

Frankus,

If I reveal myself, it'll have to wait till the morning. I'm at the public library now (no internet at home) and won't have access to my beautiful mug til the morning...

And again, Skylark has last say on this ;-)

Love the last line of that link:

"But one of these days they’re going to have to realize that the G.O.P. has become the party of intolerance."

I think many know that already, and they're proud of it...

And yes, those are stuffed (FAKE) penguins with Skylark. I think Skylark had done something wrong and was trying to hide...

It almost worked...

[Edit: Added FAKE: I just realized that a few people might just actually think those penguins were once real... They weren't]
[Edit: replaced 'they' with 'many' for clarity]

I agree with you on the second sentence (and also agree with MaxD), but...

(There's almost always that ugly 'but')

Secularism doesn't necessarily involve people ignoring their "religious convictions", whatever they are, when in government.

I believe secularism should be about people ignoring their 'religious convictions' (in government) when those convictions can only be achieved via their religion...

(Though I don't believe those 'convictions' shouldn't be out there to be criticized)

[Edit: added 'in government' for clarification']

Coming from a background where many of my friends were fundamentalists, I still cannot fathom how their brains work.

Freewill vs God's will...

It's an abyss they have somehow managed to circumnavigate without going absolutely ape shit...

Well, at least most of them...

It's those few that can't quite get across that abyss that I fear...

Those few that need and crave god, but miss that edge when going across the abyss from rationality to irrationality and back...

If only they TRUELY believed in god's will and stayed out of god's business...

Since this is incidentally a Sam Harris article thread, maybe Sam would want to find out why the flying copulations we did this? Must be a neuro-thingy.

That's a good question...

And actually I was going to have a rather dull and boringly long comment on just what the hell this was about (to me)...

(I'm serious here, for once) I mean, this pursuit to 10,000 doesn't make any more sense than a pursuit to 9,718 or 10,025 in pure rational terms, and decius brought this point up a few pages ago. But it was fun, a diversion of sorts.

In an odd way maybe even comforting...

Like religion, or at least the start of one...

And we participated in it...

As atheists, well... that's not a fair term here...

As rational human beings...

Dear Skylark,
speaking on behalf of my cat who is presently occupied at a soft spot elsewhere, I am obliged to ask:
Will Sarah Palin become better at licking her butt post-10k?
And what does this have to do with anything?

I wasn't aware that Sarah could lick her own butt, though she can lick others (2012 any one?)...

This has to do with EVERYTHING this web site stands for...
