I wouldnt even download this book if it was free. WASTE OF TIME to read this. That is just my opinion, I wouldnt want to discourage the seeking of knowledge by boycotting a book but this one is just obvious.

"The second law of thermodynamics states (loosely) that systems tend to get less complicated not more. And this being true means evolution is possible."
Did you mean not possible?

Why did you choose christianity. There are plenty other belief systems that follow your philosophy of life better than christianity. It sounds like your making up your own religion and then making it somehow fit into christianity.

Yeah that early christianity sounds real nice.
Too bad it 100% completely changed since then.
316. 'Telepathic' Genes Recognize Similarities In Each Other
Comment #116965 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 11:17 pm
"According to the theory, this recognition mechanism is stronger the longer the genes are."
The affect is cumulative. Either the bases are causing this or God is interveneing. Soon we will know how this works, science rules.
317. Interview with Richard Dawkins
Comment #116962 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 11:01 pm
"This really fascinates me. We see this kind of 'I know best' attitude in other areas, not just religion. We see people with little or no knowledge claiming to know more than thousands of researchers in areas like medicine (homeopathy), and climate (global warming). It is as if when certain feelings are challenged, some mental defence kicks in which is a combination of paranoia (the scientific consensus is in denial, and trying to hide the truth) and extreme arrogance (I can read a few words in the bible and know better than thousands of biologists with decaded of experience)."
Amazing point Steve.
I like the example of global warming. For so many years global warming was taken as a joke or a hoax. If you ever heard someone bring it up people would kind of laugh at it. No its finally getting more respect and taken seriously. Global warming is also a good example because there are obvious reasons why certain people, like oil companies, would not want the public to believe this. Global warming --> oil company.
Evolution --> religion
Both have a lot of power to spread lies about the science.

Comment #116959 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 10:51 pm
"In aqueous solution, "long distance" for electrostatic interaction is more than a few water molecule radii apart."
I dont understand what your saying with this.
There are plenty of very subtle interactions in molecular biology and it just doesnt seem that suprising to me. If these similar pieces of dsDNA happen to come into close proximity of each other they will stay close due to a subtle favorable interaction between electronegative charges on the surface of the molecules.
319. 'Telepathic' Genes Recognize Similarities In Each Other
Comment #116956 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 10:30 pm
I don think it happens over long distances. THe effect sounds like it is subtle as in they dont pair together strongly. If they happen to come into close proximity of each other then the electronegative interactions are seen.
320. 'Telepathic' Genes Recognize Similarities In Each Other
Comment #116955 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 10:27 pm
The bases are not necesarily completely tucked away. Restriction enzymes are able to identify specific sequences of double stranded DNA.

Comment #116950 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Agree that telepathic is a horrible word. Journalists seem to use very bad words when describing new scientific breakthroughs. I wonder who is behind that?
322. 'Telepathic' Genes Recognize Similarities In Each Other
Comment #116949 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 9:51 pm
I dont see any gap here. The similarity in bases probably creates favorable interactions.

"Ken Miller one of the most respected sciencetists in the world and a devender of evolution is a devout catholic"
I think its pathetic to hold one scientist up as the example. Thats a pretty short list you got there. The point is that a very high percentage of scientists and educated people are nonbelievers.

Comment #116474 by righton on January 26, 2008 at 3:11 pm
This has to be pretty traumatizing to the twelve year old. Your parents are going to court over cutting skin off your penis? This would give me some kind of complex for the rest of my life. The last thing I would want at twelve would be my parents arguing about my penis.
330. Interview with Richard Dawkins
Comment #116467 by righton on January 26, 2008 at 3:04 pm
"I enjoyed that did you notice that guy at the end nothing Richard sead sank in he ignored him i bet he wont go to the museum he don't care about the truth"
Your exactly right. This is how the arguments always go. If the discussion between RD and John would have continued, John would move on to another bad argument, RD would clearly explain why this is not true, John would still think his argument makes sense and move onto another one. Its like they dont even think about it. I have had this discussion a few times with different people. It ends with something like
"I know god exists because he helps me through things has changed my life. I wouldnt be the same person without god".
So after all there bad arguments are shown to be false they move to something that is not really an argument at all. It doesnt even register that all the arguments they brought up were shown to be false.

Thank you very much Cartomancer.
I dont know how good of an argument this would present. I was thinking more along the lines of something that says flat. I think that these quotes could be easily taken as expressions and not specificly saying that the world is flat.
I am just thinking that this might not be the best arguing point for showing falacies in the bible.
