"watered down" and "distilled"

Can these go together? One decreases concentration while the other increases concentration?

Irrelevent!

I remember Steve Z making the point sometime ago, and sorry if someone already mentioned this above, that an atheist living in a community of religious people would tend to be less happy because they would not fit in. I wonder if this was taken into consideration, doubt it.

This kind of study seems to show up every few months. For me, knowing the truth makes me happy.

This reminds me of those people that would not want to know if their spouse cheated on them because they would rather be ignorant to it and stay "happy".

"Before Darwin, people thought: "Hey, that looks like a mind has done that" when they looked at what seemed like design. It was common sense. Darwin showed they had fooled themselves. It was a general lesson, about the way we think about all reality."

I think a lot of people dont realize this important point.

Didnt mean to nitpick but of course creationists would love to here that we have no idea about how intelligence came about.

"If you are talking about someone who works in neurobiology and has some inklings about evolution then I suspect you might get the response that the how intelligence developed is currently unclear."

I wouldnt suspect such a simple response. Of course natural selection was working and a neurobiologist would be able to tell you a lot more about the current theories of how intelligence developed. It definitely would not be a simple "I dont know" response.

"The atheist claims that intelligence arose from mindless matter."

This has already been commented on but I cant get over it.

This is an "atheist claim"? Doesnt science have something to do with this?

Surely the only explanation for intelligence is god did it. Now that that is solved I will use my intelligence for other more important questions.

Football makes millions of dollars for schools. I think millions is a low estimate. A home game at the school I went to draws 58,000 people, all wearing school clothes and eating and drinking a lot. That equals an insane amount of money.

Point taken on the "original thought/idea". I have had some original thoughts. I did it by reading research articles for hours and coming up with a new hypothesis or testing something that has not been tested yet. I dont expect you to put that much energy into your posts. I still think your posts far too long and boring. But thats just my opinion.

Comment #128729 by righton on February 17, 2008 at 8:27 pm

"Who could possible have problems with nanotechnology!"

Me, however it is not a moral problem like this article talks about. I would like to see a lot more toxicology research done on it before they start using it in all kinds of products, which i guess they already are. A lot of cleaners, perfumes, detergents, soaps and other products make me very sick when I am exposed to them.

"I don't buy into any of the nationalistic shite I constantly hear and I'm surprised to see it here."

Im surprised to see stereotyping of people that live in a specific country here. Many of the comments are about how stupid/illiterate/uninformed "Americans" are.

"Interesting to see people getting all defensive and patriotic."

Wrong. I dont think anyone is getting "patriotic" here. Its more about being stereotyped. That is what people are being defensive about.

Comment #128192 by righton on February 16, 2008 at 12:56 pm

This Expelled movie might turn out to be a very good thing.

It will get a lot of press and hopefully it will also get the far superior counter arguments out to the general public.

I cant wait for it to come out because it will promote the discussion of this topic. I will be able to tell a lot of people the vast shortcomings of ID. Without this movie it is a hard subject to bring up in a conversation.

3. Bad punctuation in the past led to the fall of Rome, Americans have bad punctuation, therefore America will fall.

My punctuation on a blog has nothing to do with my inteligence.

America is like Rome. The roman empire fell, therefore America will fall.
