Not sure how many ppl suggested this. But I would start by running ads with torah/bible/koranic verses that are blatantly [inane, erroneous, contradictory, obviously immoral, all of the above]

Challenge non-religious and religious folks alike to read these text for what they are: Mythology and bigotry of our ancestral past.

Sit back and watch the howls of protest:

  • "out-of-context, sire, out-of-context",
  • "nuance, you must use subtle nuance",
  • "we are a religion of peace", ad infinitum...

Thanks to your marvellous video posting/teaser of his poem, I will make all possible effort to go catch Minchin at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney come April.

I never was a fan of his except for his "Take My Wife" song, but I just went through a lot of his stuff on youtube last night and he rocked (in a satisfyingly nerdy way)

If he gets shitty with you, tell him at least you helped him sold two tickets and you look forward to your commission in the mail ;-)

Also yesterday, the bishops for the first time approved a new "blessing of a child in the womb," which could be said by priests for pregnant women. The blessing was in the works for several years, but took on new significance in light of the bishops' heightened concern about abortion, given the election results.
Wow... and here we are thinking that religion have no positive contribution to humanity, they come along and prove us wrong.

    Colorado Amendment 48:

    Colorado Amendment 48:
Human Life from Moment of Conception
This measure would amend the state constitution to define the term "person" to include "any human being from the moment of fertilization." This definition would be applied to all aspects of the state constitution, including the provisions that ensure that no person has his or her life, liberty, or property taken away without due process of law. Thus, the measure would essentially have the effect of banning abortion.Full results »

    Why did Obama win?

Because our country has slipped away, carried on the happy backs of brainwashed communists who think tax hikes, skyrocketing energy prices, and defeat in the war on terror are good ideas that somehow benefit this country.

When small businesses have to lay off workers or close their doors and large businesses move all their offices and production overseas because of increased tax burdens, when people can't afford to pay their power bills every month because our own energy sources are closed off to us by a willing government, when America suffers another 9/11 style attack because our enemies will now perceive us as weak and having lost the will to fight them… only then might we actually understand what we have done to ourselves by electing this unaccomplished, naive, know-nothing socialist into the highest office in the land and backing him up with a Congress full of extremist fools. And maybe we'll deserve it. We'll certainly need the wake-up call. The only benefit I see from this election is that two or four years down the road, conservatism should see an amazing revitalization. If it doesn't, then our country is truly and forever lost.

My wife, born and raised in Communist China, sees Mao himself in the adoring, tear-soaked eyes of Obama's adorers and the Jesus-like imagery of him that abounds, in the choirs of indoctrinated children and the militaristic pledges of "YES WE CAN" allegiance to our new Dear Leader. Any American with the smallest awareness of foreign history should be terrified of what is about to come. Citizens of China do everything they can to escape this type of government. And we're willingly bringing it on ourselves.

At at what cost? That of John McCain, a man for whom I voted despite my issues with some of his major past legislative blunders, because he is a man who loves his country more than his own blind ambition. He has spent literally his entire life in service of his country, and tonight he was given a giant collective middle finger from the people of America in favor of an utterly inexperienced socialist who has never done anything in public office except seek higher office. The Presidency has clearly been Obama's goal for very many years, and we handed it to him like brainwashed dolts at the expense of a devoted candidate whose history of service is unmatched. It's an unspeakable shame.

I appreciate Obama's attempts at unifying words this evening. But he gives us no reason to believe that his record as an unabashed Marxist is something he'll fail to lead from in order to heal our horrible partisan divide. I vow to do everything in my limited ability to fight his dangerous, unAmerican policies and ideals for every waking minute of his cursed Presidency. He may take America down a road to ultimate Communism that we can never recover from, and the day he takes office, our fight begins in full force. Conservatives of America unite... we have only lost the battle, but the war to preserve the country we grew up with and know and love is far from over.

Obama will never earn the title of President from my lips. I will spend the next four years referring to him as Dear Leader, as a constant reminder of all we stand to lose to the politics of extreme leftism under an Obama-Biden-Pelosi-Reid led government. I never thought I'd see the day that America would turn on itself and its principles like this, but all wrongs can be righted... with time and perserverance. My fight begins now.
Question: Can Obama really unify this loose conglomeration of hicks and jeesus-freeks?

Perhaps I could have worded it better, but the "reputation" I am refering to is the one refered to by the article:

Although it's now generally recognized that children are inequality averse, one experimental difficulty has been separating out strategic behavior, such as reputation building, from true preferences for sharing.
I don't know if 4yo kids are concerned with image but I wouldn't rule against some kids wanting to (or appearing to) be the "good boy/girl" vs. the "spoilt little brat"

BTW, I was always curious about your handle, are u a modern day Paine or modern day Edison? or a modern day tank engine? Just curious ;-)

The Fehr study differs from prior studies of inequality aversion in children by scrupulously preventing such an interpretation. They made all behaviors anonymous so children could never identify their partners, and therefore could not sacrifice in hopes of gaining in the future.
It doesn't imply that their behavior is not rooted in self interest. It could be a mis-firing of instinct. Or they may think that their "reputation" is inhanced by their behaviour.
