I am a weekly viewer of Real Time on HBO. I just realized how much more I prefer Bill Maher in print.

Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
KBOE Kathy Martin (unfortunately re-elected on Nov. 4th): "Evolution has been proven false. ID is science-based and strong in facts."
Sounds like your board member Bradley. They all read from the same script.

The Kansas science standards have been changed back to the former pro-science stance. Most of the ID proponents on the board imposing the embarrassing ID standards have been voted out of office. The moderates on the board now outnumber the conservatives 7-3. Hopefully your state will never adopt the idiotic standards Kansas previously had with the old school board.
It is worth noting that no local school board in the state ever changed its science curriculum while the former standard was in place.

I mentioned yesterday that Republican Kathy Martin, the main ID proponent running for the Kansas State Board of Education, was running for the seat again. Her opponent is Democrat Christopher Renner. Apparently she must feel that there is not enough ID supporters so she rolled out a new tactic. http://www.hutchnews.com/Elections/boerace

Remnant,
Check the numbers, studies have shown that religious people give far more to charity than secular people. I have been on many a mission trips and worked in many food lines helping the less fortunate and have yet to run into an atheist group.
An atheist wouldn't preach against condom use and then pat themselves on the back for helping AIDS victims and orphans.

Thanks for confirming my assertion that any unproved wild theoretical speculation is accepted as proof for your religion.
You have failed to prove the other part of my post which was the "Creationist origin of life: 1 eternal, immutable, infinite, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, immaterial, invisible, etc., being that apparently created itself" part and calculate the odds.
Surely you can't think that 1 self-replicating molecule is less improbable than an eternal, immutable, infinite, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, immaterial, invisible god that somehow poofed into existence.
By the way you never answered the question I asked you twice today. Are you a Seventh-day Adventist?

An accepted first principle of knowledge is that life does not come from non-life.
Scientific origin of life: 1 self-replicating molecule.
Creationist origin of life: 1 eternal, immutable, infinite, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, immaterial, invisible, etc., being that apparently created itself.
Calculate the odds on the second one.

from http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/quotes/mine/part1-4.html
Quote #59
"If living matter is not, then, caused by the interplay of atoms, natural forces and radiation, how has it come into being? I think, however, that we must go further than this and admit that the only acceptable explanation is creation. I know that this is anathema to physicists, as indeed it is to me, but we must not reject a theory that we do not like if the experimental evidence supports it." (H.J. Lipson, F.R.S. Professor of Physics, University of Manchester, UK, "A physicist looks at evolution" Physics Bulletin, 1980, vol 31, p. 138)
However, in a later issue of Physics Bulletin, Lipson clarifies his position:
Several people have given clear indications that they do not understand Darwin's theory. The Theory does not merely say that species have slowly evolved: that is obvious from the fossil record.
- H. J. Lipson, "A physicist looks at evolution - a rejoinder", Physics Bulletin, December 1980, pg 337.
Note that he claims that it's obvious that species have evolved, something that can be seen in the fossil record.
