What he said. I thought Maher would be well received here since Religulous. How exactly is he a science-denier? He's not orthodox enough? Links please.
Edit: Is it this one, or are there more?

"Just poking fun at that the well worn falsehood that nobody would dare critisize islam (for whatever reason)."
After I had posted my reply, I re-read yours and suspected just that. It's just that I've seen that type of reply used seriously, in defense of Islam, even on these forums. Sorry, but irony and sarcasm are difficult online, especially with people you don't know.
:) (in this case, for friendship)

Oh and teapot, Islam basher is a badge of honor in my book, as is Christian basher. Don't mistake honest inquiry for selective criticism. We were after all, discussing Islam.

Not surprised at all, seen several of these vids on youtube before. As for the debate about the Muslim moderates, the thing that gets to me is the silence. Always the silence.
When the Danish cartoonist was assaulted this New Years, I didn't hear a single word of condemnation from the Muslim community. Nothing. The only Muslim comment I saw was a pat on the back for "a nice try". If anyone has links or info about Muslims or Muslim organizations clearly and openly condemning the attempted axe murder please post them and it'll make my day just a bit brighter.

You're absolutely right. I think one important reason is that many rules in Islam seem to be oriented towards preventing happiness and promoting frustration and bitterness. Religion in general seem to abhor fun. The simple but oh so important pleasures in life, dancing, singing, drinking, romance, even bacon sandwiches, verboten! And since misery loves company...

The comments at His Grace's blog supporting his rubbish are even more amusing than the original post. Also, dismissing Richard's own post as fake says a lot about His Grace. Because apparently, he doesn't have the time to confirm it with a simple e-mail or look at this forum...

I already knew Comfort was blatantly dishonest. What is so disheartening is that it seems many of his followers are actually swayed by these ludicrous arguments.
I'm quite frankly surprised he didn't end the list of Darwins crimes with the financial crisis...

As someone mentioned earlier in the article, martial arts are too new to take into account. I've seen beanpole skinny guys efficiently take out much beefier opponents in Tae Kwan Do and kickboxing.
I still think the article makes sense though. Though I very much doubt a really small guy with a "testosterone face" will intimidate anyone, body size would probably matter a lot more.

Absolutely not. I'm from Norway, and in many ways I think of the right wing as more liberal in the sense that it is the political left wing who wants to have laws and regulations everywhere, and it's the right wing who prioritize individual rights and freedom."
Hear, hear!! I'm from Sweden and I share that sentiment. The Scandinavian political spectrum is generally far more leftist than the US one.
Though in my experience, left or right has little to do with how "open" you are to new ideas and experiences. Both political groups have their fundamentalist, irrational retards.

What would be a proper argument to get us much further forward? Al made a very good case summarizing the core values of each state, diametrically opposed as they are in many ways. I don't see how that is simplistic.

Fear. Multiculturalism. Leftist obsession with victimization and oppression. There is this idea that it's noble and good to always side with the underdog. Even in cases like this, when the underdog has clearly got rabies.

Laurie Fraser I remember that well, Hunter. Another example of a brave and fearless leader inventing a war to save her sorry political hide...and it worked, more's the shame.
Invented? Wasn't it an Argentinian (re-)occupation that got it started? Should the UK have let Argentina simply take it? As far as I can remember, Argentinian economy was in a pretty dismal state in addition to some serious civil unrest at the time. The occupation of the Falklands was an attempt at a diversion. They severely misjudged Maggie however...
Say what you will about Thatcher but that she invented the Falklands war seems rather unfair an assumption.

Come on guys, anyone here can see the article is a positive one. The Forced Marriage Act is a step in the right direction. But that doesn't mean that there isn't a problem with politicians who cater to barbaric Muslim behaviour to gain votes.
The article is meant to create awareness, I'm sad to see it causes such division between people in this thread who should stand shoulder to shoulder on issues like this.

Sanaullah Baloch, a nationalist leader from Baluchistan, denied that such brutal justice was embedded in local culture.
He blamed the government for failing to provide better health and education services to women and girls in the southwestern province, which remains impoverished despite rich mineral resources.
So... these women were brutally murdered because the government fails to provide "health and education services" to them? I'm curious to know just exactly what this "education" is all about?
Dishonoring your family can be dangerous to your health. In fact, according to health regulations, anyone found *accused* will be brutally tortured and killed. God is Great!

How is it even possible to get a museum of science to censor scientific facts? This is probably one of the worst examples I've seen. I'm curious to know if it was a Christian or Muslim making the complaint. In the light of cultural sensitivity, I'm betting on the latter.

I find it hard to sympathize with either side in this situation. The christians are clearly there to spread their ridiculous faith, trying to win support through this obvious publicity stunt. And the communists do what they do best, suppressive control of anything and everything that could jeopardize their precious totalitarian dictatorship.

I can't help but suspect that this book might have gone unnoticed if it weren't for that Professor Spellberg getting her panties in a twist over it. There were no protests, as far as I understand, from the muslim community itself. No, this is the work of a politically correct alarmist, who probably feels real good right now having prevented feelings from getting hurt.
What she has essentially achieved is supplying the muslim loons with a bit more ammo for their victimization rallies.

"Before performing Salah, if the urine drop (Najasat Ghalizah) is equal to 5.94cm (which is, the circumference of the inner hollow of the palm) then it is Wajib (necessary) to wash this from your garments. If any impurity is less than this amount then it will be Mustahab (preferable)."
