My response to the Pope’s morally reprehensible comments regarding the violence in Paris against the satirists at the French weekly, Charile Hebdo.

TRANSCRIPT:
As though the Catholic Church hadn’t already done everything it possibly could to absolutely obliterate the moral credibility it never had, this morning, I woke up to the Pope — the vicar of Christ, the head of the Holy Roman Catholic Church — advocating actual physical violence in response to offensive, or provocative speech, thereby inciting violence, and coddling the terrorists who killed my fellow satirists last week at the French weekly, Charlie Hedbo.
“If my good friend Dr. Gasparri says a curse word against my mother, he can expect a punch. It’s normal. You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others.”
“There are so many people who speak badly about religions or other religions, who make fun of them, who make a game out of the religions of others. They are provocateurs. And what happens to them is what would happen to Dr. Gasparri if he says a curse word against my mother. There is a limit.”
Well, I have three words for you, Pope Franky… Fuck you, asshole!
I not only CAN make fun of the faith of others. I do it professionally, you sick, totalitarian bastard! You terrorist apologist! Your claim to be connected to some higher power gets you no pass from criticism, ridicule, and mockery, you self-imporant jerkwad! And by the way, does the fact that I am so deeply offended by what you said now give me the right to physically harm Catholics, destroy Catholic property, or say something like, “well, if someone assassinates the Pope, the Pope brought it on himself?”, you, simple-minding, mouth-breathing provocateur?
Let me explain to you, Pope violence, why you’re dead wrong — because apparently, the 2000 years of your own vile, wicked, totalitarian history has taught you absolutely nothing about basic human decency, you sick fuck!
There are, and can be, no limits on freedom of speech because when there where — and when your very organization was in charge of imposing those limits, you locked up a man for the rest of his life for giving us one of the most important scientific findings in the history of humanity — one you might want to consider right now — that we are not the center of the universe. You murdered people — burned them alive — for speech you deemed heretical and offensive, you fucking moron.
Now, if you want to disregard the stated principles of your religion and help Nazis, or fuck young boys, I guess some would say that’s your business. And God knows you never really cared for the whole “Freedom of Speech” in the first place — what evil empire would? But your dear leader — whose ideas seem to be no where on your fucking radar — was pretty adamant about returning violence with love — and that was VIOLENCE — not simply speech, which neither picks my pockets not breaks my leg. Do you even remember that whole “turn the other cheek” bit your Lord did, you hypocritical piece of shit?
So, fuck you, Pope Francis, you terrorist sympathizer. I will mock the faith of others all I want. That is my right as a human being. You don’t get to harm other people simply because they said something you didn’t like, you fucking, knuckle-dragging caveman. Your recourse instead, is to do exactly what I’m doing here — speak your mind in opposition. That’s it! You stupid hat-wearing, son-of-a-bitch.
For those of you who agree with me, please post using the hashtag #FuckThePope.
For those who disagree, please post using the hashtag #FuckTheDeity (I win either way). Unless you’re the pope. In which case, you have a lot of work to do getting your head out of your ass. You terrorist-coddling douchbag.

  1. I wish to be associated with the remarks of the previous speaker. Time for people to wake up and realize that this new, more cuddly, more smiley Pope is a PR act and he’s still the head of a twisted organization.

  2. Thank you, please keep spreading the truth. Pope, head rabbi , head Iman, after every event (massacre) they get together and say they are peace. I knew they would.

Their positions are unreasonable, they will therefore, with time, be their own undoing, since they are ridiculous. We should thank the pope for speaking his mind, so that intelligent people can see the truth. They are losing the battle, everyday more and more people turn to peace (giving up religion). FVCK THE POPE!

  3. Thank goodness Brian has retired from being the Almighty. When you can’t, when you musn’t smite people, you really need the release of heavy weight insults, just to make the urge go away.

    Fuck, indeed, the motherfucking Pope.

    I needed that.

(Also notice how brave I am now. Je serais Charlie, mais j’ai trop peur.)

  4. Yep ! The credibility of the ‘progressive’ Pope has now been entirely extinguished by the casual throwing away of a theological cigarette end onto the hard shoulder of the M1 motorway. This man has nothing useful to tell us . He is the apologist for an organisation that has historically murdered many, suppressed ideas, held back science, has had many live fearful lives, told other what they can and cannot read, supported the Nazis, has oppressed women, advocated ignorance as to the virtues of contraception, and yet this bar-steward of a ‘progressive’ Pope, still thinks that criticising his religion is wrong !

Oh and I forget the buggering of children and the forgiving of the buggers.

In the words of Mandy Rice Davies (in another context),

Well he would, wouldn’t he ?”

  5. Pope Francis, you terrorist sympathizer. I will mock the faith of others all I want. That is my right as a human being. You don’t get to harm other people simply because they said something you didn’t like,

Apparently the Islamist terrorists don’t see Popey and Xtians as allies against the mockery of stupidity!

At least two churches have been set on fire in the capital of Niger amid fresh protests against French magazine Charlie Hebdo’s cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-30863159

  6. Very good satire, just the right amount of spice. May i say that I, myself, was aghast when hearing that Pope Francis had added to the Decalogue, “cannot insult other’s faith & cannot make fun of other’s faith.”, or expect a punch from my mother, if I understood him correctly. His mother must be a big brute, which explains why he still wears a dress. I would like to point out to the pontiff, that although one might feel like punching some one out for what they say, or write, or draw, it is better to use a pencil and stick it in one’s own offended eye, so to speak. I know how Francis feels, I must endure endless insults to my intelligence from faith blabbing all over the place. My very safety and that of the world is endangered by the Big Three Abrahamic Myths and Rules. And never so much as a disclaimer, or gods forbid, an apology for speaking complete nonsense, and acting like a perfect idiot praying & pontificating. Okay, I propose a compromise, I won’t insult your Bronze Age comfort blankets if you keep them out of my face.

  7. I agree with Brian Dalton’s rants against all faith – in this case the RCC & this Public Relations Poop.

I grew up on the Clydeside in the ’60s-’70s, where Fuck The Pope was the mantra of the Prods to the Micks, while I – a life-long non-theist – was trying to avoid both demented, hate & booze fueled in-groups.

That’s why I was atheist by my teens & anti-theist by my twenties, because all sky daddy sheep are fundamentally the same – indoctrinated, brain-rewired, mind-dulled, ego-stroking, parasite-spreading, mythtaken doofuses.

Reality & Religion are by definition incompatible & can only be reconciled via cognitive dissonance while faithism retreats from its unevidenced assertions – a process proving to be very difficult for those who can’t help but believe in ancient, confected, fixated, revealed truth memeplexes dictated by their infused sky fairy, as interpreted by that specific my-god-did-it-by-magic cult’s virus-serving shepherds.

With all the disrespect I can muster – an incurable, fatal pox upon all their houses…. Mac.

  8. As mmurray posted recently. His collapse into the old wicked ways has been extensive.

    http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/pope-francis-suggests-gay-marriage-threatens-traditional-families

Many people understood his remarks as a reference to same-sex marriage.

“The family is threatened by growing efforts on the part of some to redefine the very institution of marriage, by relativism, by the culture of the ephemeral, by a lack of openness to life,” Francis said at a Mass in Manila. “These realities are increasingly under attack from powerful forces, which threaten to disfigure God’s plan for creation.”

He also praised strongly Pope Paul VI’s controversial 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae, or On Human Life. “He had the strength to defend openness to life at a time when many people were worried about population growth,” Francis said of the former pope.

Gay marriage conspiracy and population control nutters screwing with God’s plan….This man is no longer leading his people down from the cliff top, he’s taking them higher. Thanks. Africas population is set to rocket to four times its current level before peaking, in good part due to his church’s condom scare-mongering.

Gay marriage conspiracy and population control nutters screwing with God’s plan….This man is no longer leading his people down from the cliff top, he’s taking them higher.

    Come on Phil!
You didn’t really think that the appointment of a new multi-faced “Marketing Head of PR, Dogma, and Propaganda”, would make any difference to the RCC rubbish product?

  10. No, I wasn’t buying in to any of the spin. But toying with “modernisation” because your clientelle are leaving in droves may get some grudging improvements. And the thing was others believed it and started a move in a better direction.

So back to plan A after all. No more adventures with this new-fangled nineteenth century morality. It seems to have been as fruitless as their venture into porn channels in Slovenia. (Clearly the sex wasn’t of a sufficiently reproductive or clerical nature.)

  11. Tintern, I want so badly to have hope but I think you are right. It is a twisted organization as are ALL organized religions.

  12. I sigh as I say this but I almost bought it. It was never enough of a buy-in to return to the Church, but let’s say a lessening of the disgust. Now, I give up. I’m done with the CC forever. The Pope just pounded the last nail in the CC’s coffin as far as I’m concerned. Oh, I feel like a fool for ever thinking something good could come out of religion, especially the Catholic religion.
The three “great” monotheisms are really pathetically dangerous in so many ways. I wash my hands of all of them.

  13. First of all, this article itself it written with such an aggressive tone that it becomes hypocritical in itself by condemning The Pope’s right to free speech.

Secondly, you’re missing the point. He’s simply asking people to be more careful. I mean, sure I could walk up to some guy in the street and say “you’re mother’s a whore” and call that free speech. But I cannot realistically think there will not be some kind of reaction from that. Especially with Muslims and there devotion toward God, which is an EXTRA sensitive matter.

“His pretend punch aside, Francis by no means said the violent attack on Charlie Hebdo was justified. Quite the opposite: He said such horrific violence in God’s name couldn’t be justified and was an “aberration.” But he said a reaction of some sort was to be expected.” BBC

  14. The puppet (poop oops pope) is afraid of a terrorist attack against him; safeguarding himself on time..like now that he “supports” the Big Bang theory and Evolution.lol.. Stupid Hat-wearing son-of-a-bitch..loma… I simply love it..jajajajaa.. good Mr. Dalton..

  15. Why would anyone use their mother as an example of how upset they would be if someone insulted their god?Your mama is a real person for whom you have a great respect and love… in most cases anyway. She is the ultimate example of someone who would need a defender if the occasion arose and I am with the pope on that one. Almighty gods however, aside from being not real, but if you believed they were, would not require any amount of defending. In reality what is being defended when an insult is leveled at a god is the defender’s own lack of faith in the god in question. The pope can now join the legends of weapon wielding fanatics who are grasping at the straws of their own faith. Religions in general have built an invisible castle on the backs of the misinformed, and whether they know it or not, their very own actions and words are helping take the castle down brick by invisible brick.

  16. First of all, this article itself it written with such an aggressive tone that it becomes hypocritical in itself by condemning The Pope’s right to free speech.

No. You are muddling condemnation of speech (its intellectual content) with condemnation of a right to that speech.

Like intolerance of intolerance. We are not disabled from voicing our condemnation of it.

Most important of all is Brian’s condemnation of excusing violence of any sort despite the obvious anger with which he knows he is expressing himself. His anger is obviously not to be read as an excuse for violence towards Catholics he forcefully makes us realise.

In voicing “you’re mother’s a whore” you complete the Pope’s catastrophic error of thinking (read malicious misdirection). Were his mother a renowned whore the charge would have substance. Very many think (with evidence) that Mo’s uncritical veneration as a model of the highest behaviour may be causing untold misery to many. Of course the pope’s mother was probably a kind and virtuous woman. He want’s you to think all faiths are as stainless as his dear old mom. (Note also the false equivalence of a faith and a nurturing parent.)

    Pretend punch

No. He’s saying he really would punch even his good friend. He’s making a stepping stone. But what if you were really outraged, what if, let us say, you annoyed specifically-

…. Muslims and there devotion toward God, which is an EXTRA sensitive matter.

Well who knows what would happen….

His condemnation is of free speech related to the criticism of faiths because these are like parents. He is shamelessly using the opportunity to leverage a better position for his own faith, one of the worst, and not so much a nurturing parent as a dubious uncle.

  17. Dianamar Jan 18, 2015 at 3:54 am

safeguarding himself on time..like now that he “supports” the Big Bang theory and Evolution.lol..

While this does help get some Catholics out of total denial, we must bear in mind that this is the usual RCC lying about science.
He only supports the pseudo-science “god-did-it-in-mysterious-ways, to produce ensouled humans”, rehashed versions of these scientific theories.

  18. …on a billboard some time ago, words to this affect: Religion is like a penis…it’s quite alright to have one and it’s alright to be proud of it…but you shouldn’t take it out in public and you definitely shouldn’t think with it!

  19. The essence of what Brian is saying is right on! But .. it would have been easier for me to listen to without the swearing. I’m no prude but like to take the high road on important issues- convey my thoughts without the constant F word etc.

  20. If someone was rude to the head of my church Mr Rimmer, I am happy, as my God would burn their bum with a great big lightning bolt and then rip out their intestines and mash them up with their brains.
That’s if my God could be bothered with idiots – He made the universe, man and cancer and hell. He can do anything and his track record shows he is much better at getting even than even the Catholics and that other mob I can’t mention who might not have as a much faith in their God getting even as I have. I know my God would protect me, but if he’s busy at the wrong time……. So I won’t mention the other mob.
Please note I hereby condemn Mr Rimmer – just for the record.

  21. If someone was rude to the head of my church Mr Rimmer, I am happy, as my God would burn their bum with a great big lightning bolt and then rip out their intestines and mash them up with their brains.

@Geo. For your contribution in this forum to have credibility, first you must prove that there is a god. If you can prove there is a god, with the psychological profile you describe, then you need to type some words in here and give a few examples to support your position. That god does all these things you attribute to him.

If you can’t, then your condemnation of Mr Rimmer is without foundation. Your argument depends on your next post to this forum Geo. I eagerly await your erudite response.

  22. Geo,
This bum burning god of yours, exactly which one is he? You mention he is not the same one as “the Catholics,” and that is the same one as “the other mob,” and the same one as the Baptists, and Mormons, and SDA’s, abd the C of E, and the Lutherans etc etc.

So you must have a brand new one. Has he a hammer, like Thor, daughters who ride through the sky, like Wotan, or hundreds of elephant heads?

How many bums has he burned? I mean, you can’t do that sort of thing on a regular basis without someone noticing, and that’s before we get into the mashed intestines and brains sausage making issue.

Please some more detail, this is fascinating.

  23. Dan, I feel far far safer in this world in the company of people who write aggressively than in the company of people who want to silence criticism. That’s why, whatever this Pope has so far done to demonstrate being kind to people, his massive missed opportunity to actually present what is so fundamentally different about Jesus’ actions (whether fact or fiction).. his own faith.. is worse than sad. The whole dang point is that Jesus didn’t retaliate or ask for revenge on anybody who mocked or threatened him.. to the logical conclusion of even dying and uttering forgiveness. I imagine that would extend to anyone who criticised his mother too. I’m not advocating religion, just pointing out the principles of a rather anti-religious man called Jesus. However nice and friendly the pope has been, he’s just basically misrepresented the whole of the gospels his church is supposed to believe. Way to lead the flock astray. I hope he comes back with a public change of mind, and admit that he’d be less dangerous as a social worker.

  24. Geo, thank you thank, you for noticing me and what I had to say. I have never been so cursed before and was

I am happy, as my God would burn their bum

This possessive way of discussing him suggests not that you are his play thing but his yours. I think you are entirely right here. Very astute. It also explains the emotional incontinence.

If you’d like to arrange a time and place for me to meet your man, I’d be happy to attend and turn the other cheek as required.

  25. Geo, thank you thank, you for noticing me and what I had to say. I have never been so cursed before and was starting to feel jealous of that Dawkins fella.

    Now, you say-

I am happy, as my God would burn their bum

This possessive way of discussing him suggests not that you are his play thing but he yours. I think you are entirely right here. Very astute. It also explains the emotional incontinence.

If you’d like to arrange a time and place for me to meet your man, I’d be happy to attend and turn the other cheek as required.

Sorry folks. The earlier one escaped during a phone call.

  26. Can we all stop with the Inquisition and concentrate on the horrors of Catholic dogma of the last twenty five years and there is enough not to have to go back centuries. Just the number of people killed with HIV infection because of the condom embargo or how over population is crating climate change. The blasphemy laws they use for promoting miricles, dead women in child birth, stealing babies as in Spain and covered by the BBC. Ireland and the murder of children from unwed mothers.
