Yowza,
… Â the asteroid passing above southern Africa within 3,852 miles (6,200 km) at the moment of closest approach, around 7:45 a.m. PT.
To get an idea of how close this is, consider that many telecommunications satellites orbit at an altitude of 22,236 miles (35,786 km).
I couldn’t resist checking it out, the meteor that blew up over…[Read more]

Sounds like we’ve had about the same experiences – although those short naps while people were having conversation that made for the weirdest semi-conscious dream stuff. Fleeting is right. Â I don’t worry about it much, though one interesting thing – Â I think it’s a good sign that I don’t have nightmares.

Buddhism has been described by some as rational and non-dogmatic, and there is evidence that this has been the case from the earliest period of its history,[5] though some have suggested this aspect is given greater emphasis in modern times and is in part a reinterpretation.[6] Not all forms of Buddhism eschew dogmatism, remain neutral on the…

Oh jeez, I spent all that time writing all that up there, then Tim goes and puts it all so succinctly, before I even got started.
But did he say anything about there being times within or across cultures that lies are suppressed as something to disdain, vs when lies become a normalized part of the society, such that the best liars are in…

Pinker: “But the main reason we should retire the post truth clichĂ© is that itâs corrosive, perhaps self-fulfilling.
‘The implication is we may as well give up on reason and truth and just fight the bad guysâ lies and intimidation with lies and intimidation of our own. We can aim higher.

Lausten, Iâll try to get some reflective time on the above from you. Meanwhile, hereâs something from the great givers of this forum space, Skeptic.com. Steven Pinker points out that we have just as strong of an innate sense of rational reasoning as we do for our sometimes troublesome agency detection. Rather than be paralyzed by the need to hav…

He also assigns unnecessary properties as being âlogically necessaryâ. Specifically he assigns it as âperfectly goodâ, which dovetails in nicely with his switch from the âintellect realmâ to the âethical realmâ, but since this switch is never explained (again, he didnât even want us to notice that he was actually talking about 4 realms while clai…

Does what you experience in the dream seem as clear as if you were perceiving something similar while awake?
In my early twenties I was impressed with Carlos Castaneda and what he wrote about the  dreamer and the dreamed – Tales of Power (the fourth book and the finale to his story about Don Juan’s teaching, though he kept writing more books,…[Read more]

The Dreamer and the Dreamed.
Trippy.
Between alcohol, drugs, sleep deprivation, the lines between reality and dreaming can get hard to differentiate..

As I drove out of the ravine onto the newly paved county road that tempted 20 miles above the posted speed limit, I made out a distant kaleidoscopic

Right and  “fiction” was used more than ‘story’ wasn’t it.
Also this has nothing to do with car industry, or even business, it was simply exploring the connections between reality and the stories/fictions we tell and why its important.
