Do you really believe that in another decade or two people will have the luxury for these sorts of frivolous worries?

You know I’m constantly hearing people talk about a couple decades down the line, or or half century,  as though they imagine the world to be much as it is today?

I can’t fathom where the smug comfort comes from, I mean look at the physical planet that supplies all we depend on, and what we’ve done to that.  Look at civil society in a time when coordinated focused action provides the only avenues for dealing the Harshening Climate Realities of the day, but instead our leaders are taking us to a Lord of Flies mentality, ‘I got mine and fuk you and yours.’

They really can’t see that right now on our physical planet changes are afoot will take us back to struggling for basic human needs, with all this fluff we’ve gotten addicted to and lost within, a fading memory?

I figure in two more decades today’s greed focused society will be a memory of a time long passed and greedy blind people who didn’t give a damned about the future.  What a shame the future curses pointed in our direction can’t be transmitted back to us today.  Might that make a difference?  Probably not in a society where, me myself and I, seems to be all that matters anymore.

If someone believes I’m insane for stating that up there, may I ask if they know anything about evolution or the sweep of human history, or if they have paid any attention to the environmental degradation going on these past couple centuries, or the biosphere destruction that has gone ballistic during this past half century.  Anyone really think that doesn’t matter and that we can ignore it the way we do?
