I don’t think a closer look at human evolution and travels reveals something quite different.  Hominids were “always” looking for better and learning and reaching outside the ‘box’ it found itself in, depending on the resources at their disposal, “always” crowding their territory, with youth dissatisfaction and wanderlust, curiosity, desire to control, desire to create their own new community and so on and so forth.

Moderation does have to do with not indulging in extremes.

Also with not taking the moment overly serious – this too shall pass and all that.  Be it great or sad.

Or as cool lady once said:  “Be good, but not too good.”
