And why, with all the empty space in between the particles, ball and hill don’t just merge.
Ouch, the atom is not like a solar system.
Electron are not discrete elements spinning around like so many planets.
Electron speeds are beyond comprehension, the electron’s “orbit” is a smear of energy confined and forms energetic covalent shells surround the atom.
Did anyone ever claim that the Starship Enterprise’s Force Field which could deflect incredible direct hits, was empty space?
(okay so a mind experiment there 🙂 )
But I’m hoping you catch my drift.
Where does this notion of empty space within an atom come from.
