My god, you shift back and forth between ānothing is proven in scienceā and āyou canāt scientifically prove it to meā with the greatest of ease.
Thanks for catching that Wid my good man. I’m just skimming Sherlock for now. That is exactly what I was trying to show him this week. He usually separates these things by a few posts or even in different threads.

The Jewish scholars he interacted with were absolutely stunned by the stuff he said to them
I’m not aware of extra-biblical records of scholars commenting on the writings of Jesus in the way you state here. That would be very interesting to me. Or even a chapter and verse, if that’s what you meant.

It does seem to be link related, but I’m not so sure there is a pattern. One thing I see that you don’t, there is an automatic spam moderation, and it catches a lot of actual spam. There’s a report that comes with it and it recognizes that it is making “false positives” but I’m not sure if I can help train it. We aren’t exactly Microsoft here, so…[Read more]

Humans cannot exist independent from bacteria, thus the introduction of bacteria into the pattern of the human biome falsifies the notion of intelligent creationism of fully formed organisms and especially the notion of a young earth and universe.
That is kind of a deal breaker isn’t it?

I put it in google docs, I’ll get access setup in a bit.
Have you thought about more of a pattern, naming the eras and times, and putting a series of adjectives and verbs with each one. Not quite a poem, but along those lines. Full sentences as needed, but they aren’t what gives the piece it’s flow.

Lausten replied to the topic Evolution of Religion in the forum Religion and Secularism 5 years, 2 months ago
I’ll give you a chance to expand on this before saying too much, but this bothered me a bit
Religion seems to look backward as science goes forward and so itās easy to see why so many assert their disbelief in the existence of God. Thatās a mistake, and a potentially very costly one.
I’d say it’s costly for religion to look backward, but not cos…[Read more]

Post away Genus.
Tee, the difference with Genus is he is independent, so his “church” is quite flexible. He probably won’t blaspheme against himself.

you really do seem to be totally unaware that you are a terrible debating opponent
Well, one of us is. I’ve been wrong a couple times in my life but I listen to reason. I have not considered most of our conversations a debate. In the above, I am discussing generalizations about you. I’m sure they do come across as personal attacks to you. You…[Read more]

Iāve been looking for something that organized it as well as concisely as this does.
Yeah, lucky hit. I know Berkeley has a good site on the fossil record and good tools for educators, so when I saw their name on pg 1 of Google, I was pretty sure it would be good. Sherlock’s responses really confirm everything we’ve found out about him. The p…[Read more]

Nope, no disagreements, it’s all good. Note there are a couple places where they qualify their statements, like, “rarely published” instead of “never”.

So, Sherlock, when you cut and pasted
But Dawkins is a bozo, you are probably easily impressed.
what went through your mind?
Did you at that point see “any basis for <my> emotional outbursts”?

Someone else posted this for a different type of believer, but it fits everything Xian talks about. He talks about the “substrate” underlying consciousness. It’s not “universal consciousness” or some other reality, it’s the reality that we know about through science, things the early Buddhists could not have known. He uses the wave analogy, the…[Read more]

The latter is quite obviously true
The difference is, judging the comparative observations of people thousands of years ago who only saw planets as wondering stars to people today with powerful telescopes and space ships. There are good reasons to judge the quality and accuracy of the attributes ascribed. With gods, you don’t have those kinds of…[Read more]
