I never thought of anti Columbus sentiments as being anti white.
Pretty sure Columbus is the poster child for European conquering and conquistadoring and slaughtering of the innocent indigenous people. It’s mostly due to timing. Previous contact was nebulous, then the Spanish colonization followed quickly on the heals of Columbus. My “defense” of…[Read more]

A documentary is out on YouTube about the Bret Weinstein story at Evergreen College. He was pushed out by the students who had no real reason for their grievances, but they were supported from behind by the admin of the college. More recently Iāve started listening to his podcast, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cajzi2Fubj0 . It can be pretty h…[Read more]

Thanks for the support. Not sure what will come of it.
Actually Widdershins, I got the sense that they were specifically interested in the level of isolation of secular individuals. The lack of organizations that combine social life with community engagement is an issue.

What are those Phenomena?
Yeah. You’ve repeated the question a few times.

I’m thinking of some of the worst pain I’ve experienced, but I can only describe it in terms of other pains. I felt cold of being exposed or the flush of warmth from blood rushing to the wound, or pressure, or it was a like a spike in my neck. There is pain that just causes you to automatically recoil, but even that requires other experiences to…[Read more]

Just took the survey

Pretty simple. A couple open ended questions at the end even.

Trump is the culmination of years of pseudo-information peddling.
A High School, now on facebook, said, “So, he took money from Russia.”

His site has been a great asset for http://www.milepost100.com. There is not as much discussion on his page but given the entry “fee” it stays pretty well on topic and his responses often add clarity. Maybe see you there.

He addresses that briefly. I like the move to Indigenous day, but I hope we get passed this phase where it’s “I hate Columbus” day. I would have preferred something like “World Day” or something that celebrates cultures connecting.

A day late, but just wanted to share this bit of history. I’ve read about these issues, and I try to argue them every year, and people get all upset about it, but I don’t care, I hate rewriting of history. This guy does a great job. Columbus was used as a political pawn in his lifetime and in the years that followed his death and again centuries…[Read more]

As a kid I had a thought in my head that if God was truly divine then humans could not claim to speak let alone understand him because then it wouldnāt be divine.
That’s excellent reasoning. I used that in discussion with theists all the time. Every tradition has some statement about how we mere mortals can’t know the mind of God. It’s easy to g…[Read more]

But if these people areĀ thatĀ dedicated to their faith, if they are willing to give up personal freedoms, their time, their money, pride, friends, familyā¦Ā If theyāre willing to do all of that for their faith then they must really believe it.
I have some overlap with your experience, but what you describe sounds more like the extremes that I see in…[Read more]

I guess I did kind of jump to a conclusion, but when I read āThe dickish have taken overā I kind of thought of the Republican party right away.Ā Of course thereās also the āwokeā and āsocial justice warriorsā on the left who donāt understand that the cultural view was very different decades ago.
Wanted to give this some thought. I think āThe dicki…[Read more]

Tee; You kind of tipped your hat to there being versions of Sharia law, including liberal interpretations, but then went on with lots of concern. Pew was careful to break that definition out into an easy to find highlighted box here. From the numbers were looking at, it’s really hard to tell what people are thinking. I suspect many of them are no…[Read more]

Looking forward to seeing that. I remember watching those conversion stories on daytime religious shows back in the 70s. I think it helped me build up my immunity.
