I actually did already respond to your comments on statistics, before you asked, so not sure what you’re concluding here. CC can put together a great essay on a view different topics, and he’s involved in local politics, which is awesome, but the couple times he’s asked for direct feedback on an idea here, I’ve found he has limits to what he’s…[Read more]

Because if the preference is simply to go around in circles and get frustrated with each other, Iām wasting my time and effort.
Isnāt that the current strategy of our political leaders, supported by social media?
Hereās my summary of the last decade, as it relates to this thread. I watched with mild amusement, then increasing horror as peopl…[Read more]

Coupled with the belief that because someone believes in something there must be some truth to it, especially if it has impacted their life in a measurable way. And I cave instantly if someone else doesnāt agree with me, itās like I am automatically wrong. I just feel like I donāt have the tools I need to navigate life.
I know logic is not reall…[Read more]

Here’s what I objected to
But then again, how else would you describe what those 40% Ā who see Trump as their Messiah ā and who react to educational efforts and physical solid facts, as though they were mortal aggressive personal attacks to be counter-attacked with ruthless disregard for honesty, let alone decency and respect???
There is no poll as…[Read more]

But evenĀ thoseĀ people donāt think he is their āMessiahā literally. If you are saying it tongue-in-cheek, fine
So, Tee and I agree, 40% is in error. That’s the Presidential approval rating which includes a lot of people who could not name the Vice President. Why does it matter? Because the topic is about a marketing strategy. That starts with de…[Read more]

We really need an IQ test and psychological evaluation to be mandatory to be president.
And who would create and administer that test? It would have to be a group with oversight, ultimately the will of the people, supported by a press that helped keep us informed. Oh wait, that’s the system that’s not working! Nothing personal Wid, that’s the same…[Read more]

I kept my suggestion short and to the point, “You might want to start by not calling them ignorant and closed minded.” Then followed it up with very basic communication skills. I’m not going to look up a link to a Dale Carnegie talk.Ā Then related directly to the thing you are talking about, the scientific method.
Science as we know it has only…[Read more]

The book has a lot of data backing up what he says and he let’s you know when he’s speculating and when there is counter evidence to his ideas. So, I can’t just put up pithy quotes that summarize everything. One quote he uses (I forget the source), to make a point about the difference between us and our primate relatives is, you’ll never see two…[Read more]

Sorry I Ā did not mean to up set you Lausten.
You lost me. Ā Please define this straw man.
The straw man is that you say I’m simply asking you to be nice. Communication is a little more complicated than that. Respectful discourse is more than avoiding offending someone. It’s not shutting up or bowing down either. I didn’t ask you to do any of those things.

Ā You are the one that has the secret knowledge about why the Hard Problem does not exist. It is up to you to Explain why it does not exist.

He just says he rejects the Hard Problem with no Explanation.
Which is exactly the same as you claiming there is a Hard Problem with no explanation. I don’t like repeating myself, but here goes, I don’t reject anything. Pay attention to what I’m not responding to. I’m not answering your question, because it’s poorly formed and you started berating…[Read more]

Here’s the tweet
As the President of the United States, I have an absolute right, perhaps even a duty, to investigate, or have investigated, CORRUPTION, and that would include asking, or suggesting, other Countries to help us out!

Been thinking about that Lausten ā
Iām just all broken up about your straw man argument. Save your keystrokes. Iāve been working on this for a couple decades and Iāve gone a little beyond ābe niceā. The President is sending up flags of civil war to see who salutes. Theyāre winning. Might be time to consider strategies.

What is there to define? These are basic Philosophical ideas. I thought this was a Philosophy forum. You can try to beat to death the definitions of things but it only serves to distract from the issues. Do you reject the Hard Problem of Consciousness?
