    There so much here that intrigues me, but then I remember that I’ve tracked down references like this and ended up being disappointed. I would need to hear something I hadn’t heard before if I was to look these up and pursue them. I’m not sure if you are pointing that out, or pointing to the use of words by these people that show how Genus Homo uses those words differently?

    Maybe getting off your line here, but for me, the ā€œlack of conflictā€ discussion shouldn’t be about the facts of religion, but instead about the values, the reason for having religion in the first place. Trouble is, a religious person doesn’t think that way. They think you need religion because a specific God exists, or some less well defined but no less real force or energy of some kind exists.

    There is also a contribution to the conflict from the science side, in that the Enlightenment started out with the notion that religion could be replaced by secular systems and they would find better moral foundations. I’m not so sure they’ve done that, or least they haven’t found a good way to instill those foundations broadly. I’m still working this part out.
