If you’re still around @Genus, we can pick this up without intervention by “he who shall not be named”. The quote you quoted, “God is in the future inviting humanity into its own destiny” sounds like something I would have once used. But then I found I could not make quotes like that work, practically or otherwise. Here’s something similar I found, “if hope is love stretching itself into the future of the beloved object, when love shrinks to self-interest, and self-interest devolves into the experience of satisfaction, hope disappears as well.” I critique in detail here. I don’t do that to be mean, I did it to assure myself that I could understand it, and also understand why it failed for me.
The short of it, he’s saying God is some sort of future hope, but we’ve demoted it to something for us, a “divine butler”, that does things to satisfy, and that’s why the hope God once provided is disappearing.
