The technical terms are “woo” and “poppycock”.

There have always been snake oil salesmen, those who prey upon the imagination and ignorance of people to sell and profit.  Today the wares are often quantum weirdness and mathematical conjectures about time. The profits come from the resultant fame, book sales, and speaking fees, with older men thus gaining the rapt attentions of young female devotees as additional reward for peddling their nonsense.

Wallace woos the audience with tall tales of the unreality of many things until there is an observer, a nonsense notion plucked from the early years of quantum mechanics, and Wallace uses other silly formulations of time and likening the universe to a wave function with no distinction between past present and future and on and on and on.
