Can you show or direct us to the brain scans of monks that causes you to doubt that emotions are real? I am thinking that some monks may have become adept at not reacting emotionally in certain circumstances. Perhaps there are also people who have trained themselves not to blink, despite the natural reflexive impulse to do so. I would be i…[Read more]

Those religious morals don’t seem superior to me. They arose from some people from another era, inventing a God, replete with his own declarations of morality. Then that invented system of morals established by the invented God, has further suffered the impositions of spurious interpretation over time and of modern day in the light of…[Read more]

Men of another era created the Judeo/Christian God and that God’s morality.
Men can also come up with moral standards without necessarily inventing a supreme being to do so.
Religiosity is thus not needed for us to have a humanistic morality. In fact, it could be a hindrance.

I think we share the same % of genes with Chimps as we do with Bonobos. It’s just the % we don’t share with Chimps and the % we don’t share with Bonobos, is not the same stuff, or something like that.
You can be more like a Chimp if you want. I prefer the Bonobos.

TimB: So anyway, homosexuality is natural. All the other letters, seem to me to just be different flavors on the hetero to homo spectrum.
Oneguy: Natural, yes. Normal, no.
TimB: Not normal? How do you mean? A small percentage of the population? If so, that would mean that people with red hair and blue eyes are extraordinarily abnormal. (as th…[Read more]

Cambridge Analytica had a primitive algorithm compared to the ones that now can target and persuade individuals who may never know they were targeted, and manipulated to pass on political propaganda, or even to take some sorts of political action, or to simply stay out of the political process altogether.

Mriana said, “The minions are just totally stupid, his cronies are insane, and the dotard is both, as well as a foul mouthed homophobic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, misogynistic, egotistical, hypocritical, bigot. Did I leave anything out?”

Have you noticed how repubs are so often involved in pedophilia issues or in some kind of enabling of pedophilia? Yet they don’t want a single fetus to ever not make it to being born. Is that because they want the biggest crop possible of potential victims?

I think it is now possible to design human babies to the extent that gene manipulation could be done to get rid of certain problems and/or enhance certain characteristics.
That would count as intelligent design, but explaining the newly designed babies would not require any supernatural entity.
Could some ancient civilization already have…[Read more]

The hypothesized consciousness pool that our brains supposedly tap into, are, I suppose, only connectable to by a human brain? Or do other conscious animals tap into that pool, also?
If this idea of an amorphous-seeming universal consciousness pool is correct, I assume that we don’t have to worry about AI machines ever becoming conscious, as…[Read more]

I understand the passion/anger/fear/despair that may accompany someone with the foresight to recognize where our society is headed with the new found normalization of profound lies being told repetitively to all of us. It can’t be good. It could be very terrible.
