TimB replied to the topic Is Attention a form of love? in the forum General Discussion 5 years, 3 months ago
Oh, and that KKK member, I don’t think could have had that level of hate without a personal history of severely aversive or pernicious contingencies of some sort through most of his life. So if people were involved in those pernicious contingencies, say beating him, shaming him, scaring him, whatever bad stuff, they were attending to him. But…[Read more]

No, no, no. “Attention” is not an emotion. (Again, how do you come up with these sites? Amazing.) I am attending to your posts, but my only emotion was a mild amusement at some dorky site kicking you off of their discussion boards.
LOVE IS NOT ATTENTION.
Attending to someone and they attending to you are definitely factors involved in…[Read more]

I didn’t even remember that part, in “It”, but it was one of his creepiest books, and that is saying a lot. Tho the very ending seemed a little hokey to me.
What was the book series that had the developmentally delayed guy who always spelled Moon (and everything else) M-O-O-N? That was pretty good.

The tip off is the final sentence with the smiley face at the end.: “…Are you an atheist? If so , I agree completely…..: ) “

Xain, we are in a deterministic universe, and still our emotions are a part of the contingencies that we experience and which are a part of our histories and therefore a part of the deterministic factors that produce our behavior.
I am sorry if you are reading bunk that tells you differently, or that you interpret differently. If you don’t get…[Read more]

Anyway, even if heterosexuality is “natural” and the other forms of sexuality are not a natural matter of human evolution, (which I do not believe, but just say for argument’s sake, is the case), does that mean that we are doomed to be hetero and nothing else. Why would that be? There are plenty of heteros making plenty of babies in the w…[Read more]

Also, I seem to recall that a study of pregnancies that occurred in Great Britain, at the height of the bombardments and such, there, during WWII, resulted in a higher than usual % of babies who grew up to be homosexuals. Again, a vague memory.

Seems to me that I recall overcrowding experiments with rats that resulted not only in increased aggression, but also in rats engaging in same sex activities. Just a vague memory tho. Someone could probably look it up easily enough.

How did the vaunted tax revision, the ONLY major legislation passed under T rump, help the middle class, unless they are part of the middle class that has a hell of a lot of savings in the stock market? Tho the rich have a LOT of savings in the stock market. The middle class are probably at an overall decrease in money compared to before that…[Read more]

In the following dialogue, italics are statements by TimB. Bolded are statements by OneGuy.
Number 1 would be the sanctity of truth itself. (I mean even a wee bit of sanctity. They treat truth like a crack Ho that has long since reached her expiration date).
Truth is always on life support in politics. That is a blatant attempt at false…[Read more] -

Well how about the Dept of Justice, then? Couldn’t they hold the Missouri Dept of Health responsible for the crimes of rape?
(If we had a Dept of Justice, I mean.)

For all we know a rise in sexualities beyond heterosexuality is the natural course of nature in contingencies of overcrowding, chaos, and stress.

Write4U is smart as a whip. He rarely indulges in being facetious, as in his last post, in a humorous vein, no doubt.
I wonder what is up with the tendency toward in-fighting in this thread.

Hey, maybe you’re both right, in a way.
Religion is a cultural phenomenon and as such does not necessarily rely on being passed on phylogenetically. However, there are aspects of religiosity that may very well have contributed to survival to reproduction and were thus passed on phylogenetically.
I suppose an analogy is our verbal behavior. …[Read more]

The Hobbit was literally written for a child. But the LOTR, in my opinion, was a masterpiece of entertainment. An entire world replete with it’s ancient history and the languages of the various kinds of peoples actually created as a foundation for the story.

It seems to me that addressing all the ways that T rump and his following are successfully attacking our system of government is a greater priority than figuring out right now whether growth can be further sustained safely.
Cause it is just a fact that our underlying economic system is NOT going to be replaced anytime soon, without some…[Read more]

I think they are all pro-growth (necessarily so, as you suggest, but perhaps practically so, too, as they see things a bit differently than Greta and CC).
I am not sure about Yang. His paradigm is radically different from the norm, even from the Democratic Socialist. Idk how he views continuing economic growth.
