Damn, he is a disgusting man.
I just heard that the allies that he betrayed (the Kurds), followed up our kill of Al Bagdaddy, by killing the ISIS mouthpiece. I wish we still had those guys on our side. No one other than Kurds or US special forces seem to be capable of killing ISIS members.
Oh, T rump pre-informed Russia and other nations, a…[Read more]

True. We won’t know for sure til it happens, and maybe not right away, even then. And it might not happen at all, for real. And reliance on technology really might eventually doom us (tho we are a ways down that road, already).

Just re read Tee’s post.
I would reframe your questions thusly:
Why are “life after death” and “the existence of spirits” core beliefs in most religions?
Answer: Because that kind of BS brings in more believers.

I am not afraid of AI. But then, I am not likely to be around long enough to experience much of its impact.

Oh my. Indiana, what has happened to you. I guess the fossil fuel industry can corrupt anyone. It’s really quite bathetic that your imagination runs to pedophilia and cuckoldry as a way to try to diminish those who you despise.
And I hope you are not trying to renig on the $100 I asked you to donate on a retirement home. (You will eventually n…[Read more]

Dude, write a book about your adventures. You could even include a chapter where you are Princess Di’s secret love interest early in her marriage, that eventually lead to the downfall of their wedding bliss. If you want a little science fiction element you can add a part where you accidentally consume a radioactive moth, and then develop the skill…[Read more]

But yeah, we sure might be closer to true artificial intelligence with the development of quantum computing. Then, who knows what can happen?

I think Tee is correct that our attempts at communicating complex thoughts in the context of the forum, are unlikely to be very successful. But I don’t mind trying with someone who seems legitimately interested in giving it a shot.

Interesting. I was just hoping for some more prosaic advantages of computing power as great as what is suspected to be available with quantum computing.

I was responding to the article about impermanence in post # 311233.
And sure we CAN figure out what is true, generally speaking. We decide to believe our senses that there is an actual puddle in front of us and act accordingly. Maybe the puddle is not “real”, but if you get wet walking thru it, it might as well be real. We make our best gu…[Read more]

Google thinks they just about have it? IBM says that they can do better (more accurate) with a regular supercomputer, but still they would take 2.5 days instead of 10 min. (quantum computing) to do a task…[Read more]

Okay with that definition in mind, and the qualities of a “true skeptic” listed in that article as:
- Acceptance of doubt when neither assertion nor denial has been established
- No burden of proof to take an agnostic position
- Agreement that the corpus of established knowledge must be based on what is proved, but recognizing its incompleteness

Wow, T rump’s campaign owes cities over $10 Million to US Cities.
T rump’s character is such that he will probably never pay these bills.
He is above the law, because he is willing to break any law that he can get away with. And he will always continue to do anything he wants as long as he can get away with it. And his followers are going to s…[Read more]

In effect FOX is helping insure that T rump remains above the law.
I suspect One America News (OAN) will also join in on that, (despite their presenting themselves as on-so patriotic).
Talk radio tends to be in the same boat also.
So roughly 1/2 of our media seems to be intent on helping T rump in his apparent desire to be a Dictator of the…[Read more]

Buddhism has enlisted some universal truths. That doesn’t mean that everything presented as Buddhist wisdom is true. Impermanence is a universal truth. I think that was a premise of I Ching – the only constant is change. All organisms are impermanent. They live and change until they no longer live. Then their decaying bodies change. So?…[Read more]
