And I am glad you clarified that you didn’t originally mean “inexplicable” but rather “unexplained for now”.

Actually it is just a hypothesis. One that fits. One that neuro-technologies may provide increasing evidence for, or (conceivably) against, in the coming years.

Lausten: “Pretty sure Columbus is the poster child for European conquering and conquistadoring and slaughtering of the innocent indigenous people…”
TimB: Omg, could Columbus be an ancestor of Oneguy’s? I can’t keep up. Do we want Columbus to be replaced by the white Vikings in historical honor and notoriety because they are possibly a shade w…[Read more]

The debate was no big deal, seemingly, in retrospect. I am still far, I think, from deciding on a candidate. Tho I will say I feel myself leaning a wee bit toward Buttigieg. But a wee bit only.
Everyone was going after Warren, so the pundits say that, at least, the other candidates seem to view her as the front runner.
Biden – bidin’ his ti…[Read more]

Ever heard of a “blanky”? Aka, security blanket? A blanket that was paired through earlier conditioning to have a calming effect (on a child) when presented (across situational settings) and a corresponding aversive reaction when it’s removed.
Some psychologists refer to such objects as totems.

Some say history doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes.
As far as T rump destroying the world. The possibility of that is greater than zero %. He has the means, and tho I don’t think he wants to destroy the world, he is messed up enough to do it without meaning to.
And he definitely has destroyed the world of some Kurds in the past few days.

I went back in the history of posts on this forum. Some go back to at least 2013. I found his CFI name: GdB
GdB, where are you? A new disciple of compatibilist free will may be awaiting.

Uh, well, I don’t think they would or would even be able to establish legislation that will be helpful to middle class citizens, except for excluding white middle class people.
But your paranoia about the matter is very good for the exploitatively wealthy, because pitting middle class whites against non-whites, insures that the middle class…[Read more]

These kids are good at it, but interpretive dance is one of those branches of art that I think of as a bit silly, because I figure, I could just impromptu do a credible job of it, myself, like modern art.

If you’re worried about the middle class, jump on the political lefties bandwagon to redirect wealth and power back to them from the exploitatively wealthy.

I never thought of anti Columbus sentiments as being anti white. I thought it was being anti-destruction-of-indigenous-peoples.
How about a Mr. Rogers Day? He’s white.

Yeah, no functioning State Dept or any thoughtful person of any sort was involved in constructing that letter. That is all T rump.
He keeps trying to slip in his weak threat of sanctions. But ethnic cleansing is too far along. The Kurds may not be angels, as T rump announces, but if Christianity is true, a lot of them have gone to be with th…[Read more]

Write4U, Lois, maybe Mriana, CC, and others may recall who I’m talking about. Aside from the mirror joke, he really would show up to engage in long threads about free will, if anyone said the words “compatibilist free will” in a post. He was from a European country, but I don’t recall which one.

You may be looking for “compatibilist free will”. Which basically considers libertarian free will to be incoherent. And suggests that we are free to the extent that we can choose in accordance with our beliefs, convictions, wants, but we cannot choose what those are.
That is it in a couple of sentences anyway.
There used to be an actual p…[Read more]

What if the Uma character was depicted as Greta and the masked guys she is carving up, are depicted as exploitive industries and corporations and organizations that are the most offensive climate abusers? Maybe a wee bit funny? I mean it’s not real.
